Tabebuia aurea
 

Yellow Ipê, Yellow Lapacho, Ipê amarelo

 

A small deciduous tree that grows to 27 feet (8 m) high and is native to South America, Surinam, Brazil, Eastern Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay and northern Argentina. One of the most spectacular flowering trees, with a variety of yellow trumpet flowers before the leaves appear. The flowers measure up to 2.6 inches (6.5 cm) in diameter. The leaves are pinnate with 5 to 7 stipules, each 2.4 to 7.2 inches (6 to 18 cm) long. The fruits are slender 4 inches (10 cm) long seed capsules.

 

Antonio has gotten one specimen and planted in November 2010.
