Eugenia pyriformis (Uvaia do Pêra)

 

Small 14 to 33 feet tall tree from the genus Eugenia and from the family Mrytaceae with yellow and sour fruits. The crown is oval to conical, to 14 feet wide. The bark of the trunk is brown and peels in long slabs. The leaves are small and simple, the new growth is reddish, powdered they are exhaling one aromatic scent. The blossoms are white and axilary with 1.2 to 1.6 inches long stalks.

 

The fruits are eaten fresh and also used for juices. The fruit has one large potencial for production of fermented beverages like wine and good vinegar.
