Podranea ricasoliana (Pink Trumpet Vine)

The Pink trumpet vine (Podranea ricasoliana) is one species from the family Bignoniaceae.

The Pink trumpet vine grows as a evergreen climbing shrub that can reach up to 17 feet of height. The up to 10 inches long, opposite leaves are odd-pinnate and composed of 5 to 13 egg-shaped, pointed leaves.

The pink, veined flowers are darker in the throat in terminal panicles, are bell-shaped, five-lobed (where slightly double lip), and reach a size of up to 3 x 3 inches. They have two long and two short stamens.

The fruits are up to 16 inches long, cylindrical capsules, which open bialve whein ripe, with numerous winged seeds are released.

The species is native in South Africa, but is cultivated in the tropics and subtropics as an ornamental worldwide. I self have seen it on Tenerife for the first time., now I have this species in Brazil.
