Laurus nobilis (Laurel)

Evergreen tree from the genus Laurus and from the family Lauraceae, which grows to 33 feet tall and originated to the Mediterrean Area. Its foliage is used as spice for meat and fish dishes. The tree is hardy to 5°F, thrives even in the mildest regions of Germany and on Heligoland, it does thrive also in Brazil in Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná in the higher altitudes. Also one specimen stands in our garden.
