Heliconia Species and Cultivars

Also we got one small Heliconia collection. Some of the beautifulest Heliconica species and cultivars were bought at Dierberger. Dierberger is one company in Brazil, which is etablished by German immigrants and the boss also speaks German and is of German origin.

The rhizomes were planted in November 2010. They are grown well on, their places has proven as suitable, they were standing in the shadow of our house in the red clay soil in the lawn in the front garden. Unfortunately nearly all of them have died by the extreme drought in August and September 2012, only 2 have survived and one of them was in the so bad condition so that it had to be transplanted into the banana special garden at the pond.

Recently planted rhizomes of two heliconias in November 2010.
