Psidium cattleyanum (Strawberry Guava)

The strawberry guava, a small tree, is native to Brazil, is grown in the tropics and subtropics. The blossoms are white and stand in many bunches together. The shrub has strawberry-sized fruits, which are soft and dark red, when ripen. They taste very aromatic, sweet-sourish and fresh. Today the strawberry guava is less planted for the fruits, but is used as hedge in gardens.

We have a specimen in our garden.
