Annona cagans (Cagão, Cortição)

One 17 to 50 feet tall tree from the genus Annona and the family Annonaceae, originated from the semievergreen Atlantic Rainforest (looses in the winter one part of the foliage) from Mato Grosso to Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. The leaves are simple and elongate, with creamy yellow ribs, the trunk is straight, the grey slabs of the bark are falling at the end of the summer down. The tree is also used as timber tree and can also be used for reforestations. It takes light frosts down to 27°F (-3°C).

The fruits schould be eaten only in small amounts, because they are working laxative. They can to be used for the production of sweets and juices, the wood is also of the good quality.

We got our specimens by purchasing our yard.
