Bougainvillea spectabilis (Bougainvillea)

Bougainvillea is one climbing shrub, which is native to Brazil, widespread also now in subtropical regions into the southern Mediterranean area with shoot thorns and wide mostly reddish violet or pink-orange high leaves (in our garden purpurish red and pink-white). The name given to the plant for the honor of the French seafarer and discoverer Louis Antonine de Bougainville. Bougainvillea belongs to the family Nyctaginaceae.
