Bismarckia nobilis (Bismarck Palm)

Stately palm from Madagascar with a full crown of large, circular, silver-blue waxed fan-shaped leaves and a slim, solitary trunk. The seedlings and young plants have purple-colored fronds. It grows very quickly up to be a lean and stunningly handsome tree that is perfectly suitable for the subtropical or tropical gardens, for parks and avenues. It comes from the highland savannas of Madagascar, but they can take only short-term low freezing temperatures and tolerate drought. At high summer temperatures, they grow rapidly in Brazil and is not difficult to cultivate.
