Astronium sp. (Guaritá)

One large tree from the genus Astronium and from the family Anacardiaceae, native to the Atlantic Rain Forest in Brazil, became rare. It similars to Spondias mombin in the foliage very much and can be confused with it, only the blossoms and fruits are different. Its wood is one valuable timber and the tree can be cultivated as one timber tree, but this species is endangered and should be preserved in much more plantations.

Our specimen was recognized only by Helton Josué  and his wife Emilene on 16th September, 2009, but it was not simple for them, I learnt the name some later, we overtook the tree by purchasing our yard.
